Chris McMillan Hair Products: Infomercial Review

What is this tendency that women in haircare products have for throwing their hair around. You know what I mean. Sometimes they'll just jerk their head one side to the other to move their hair. Other times they'll use a couple of fingers to oh-so-seductively throw the hair off their face—or on it.

I have yet to see a commercial for a men's shampoo where a man jerks his head in order to throw his hair all over the place. Nonetheless, we see plenty of hair-throwing activity in the new infomercial for Chris McMillan Hair Products.

Chris, we're told, is the hairstylist for the stars, and charges a hefty $600 for just a basic haircut. But now he's brought his unique haircare products to the masses with this line. My girlfriend has tested them and found them as amazing as the commercial says. Ok, I'll take her word for it, despite this bizarre infomercial.

For instance, when the fictitious talk-show segment that is so common on informercials now begins, Debra Messer introduces “My good friend Chris McMillan.” And Chris waves. Chris, if we're pretending to be doing a talk show, can you pretend to talk?

Debra recalls how that when Chris first worked on her hair, he was like a chemist. Hope he's not one of those chemists who sets things on fire.

But here's what I really want to know about this infomercial. What kind of scale do they use to come up with their numbers: “300 percent stronger.” That's how much Chris McMillan's products are said to improve your hair. Where exactly do you find the hair-strength monitor? Does it pull on the hair until it snaps? Did it take 300% longer for the hair to snap after Chris McMillan was done?

Likewise, we're told the products double your hair shine. Where's the “shine-ometer” that verifies this?

But I'm getting carried away. My girlfriend says it works, and as any well-trained guy knows, that settles it.
