DR. BLAINE'S SCAR CARE REMOVER: Infomercial

DR. BLAINE'S SCAR CARE REMOVER: Infomercial Review

Some doctors seek to make a name for themselves as one of the top heart surgeons. Others want to be remembered as someone who contributed to the fight against cancer. Dr. Blaine's goal—something far more noble. He wants to be the Scar Eliminator.

Or—not quite. The scar “reducer.” Dr. Blaine's Scar Care claims that it “visibly reduces any scar—guaranteed.” Which leaves me wondering: Will it reduce the scar on my heart if my girlfriend leaves me, like she keeps threatening to do?

Ah, but there's that key word “visibly.” I suppose it works only on the visible level, according to its commercial. Silly me.

But not quite as silly as those first three people the commercial shows, with photos of their scars. I mean honestly, who takes a picture of their knee scar and nothing else? Do they hang it on the wall? Do they frame it?

And what is with that freaky music that opens the commercial? I honestly thought at first that it was a New Age version of “The Twilight Zone” theme. And for that matter, all of the models, with their creepy smiles, look like they should be in an episode of “The Twilight Zone,” for that matter.

Now that I've totally dissed their commercial, let me point out that Dr. Blaine's Scar Care does exactly what it advertises, and does not disappoint. It's FDA approved for a reason and that's because it truly is effective at its intended purpose.

But—scars? Really? As a career?
